Nienhiser Seventh at South Dakota Sprint Car Nationals

PETERSEN MEDIA: Making the trip to Park Jefferson Speedway in North Sioux City, South Dakota over the weekend, Paul Nienhiser would have a great weekend that saw him record a seventh place finish during the South Dakota Sprint Car Nationals.

“I felt like we had another great car with a ton of speed, but unfortunately we have had some bad luck with tracks taking rubber on us,” Paul Nienhiser said. “We put ourselves in a decent position after the heat races on Friday night, but Saturday's conditions kind of relegated our finish.”

With drivers competing in a pair of heat races on Friday night to determine how their Saturday night would play out, Nienhiser opened his weekend up by lining the CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil/Mason Sound/Innovating Design backed No. 9 entry up in the third row for his first heat race.

On the slick racing surface, Nienhiser was able to get off to a good start as he quick overtook the fourth position. Carrying a lot of speed, the Chapin, IL driver made a two for one move to work into second where he would finish, and earned valuable points for the event.

The surface would continue to deteriorate by the time his second heat race took to the racing surface and with rubber down on the speedway, lining up sixth would be a bit of a challenge. With good points under his belt from his first round, Nienhiser and company were able to take some gambles on their set up as they looked for a way to maneuver through rubber.

Struggling to get going when the race came to life, Nienhiser would make a couple of nice moves late to finish fourth and lock himself into Saturday night’s $10,000-to-win feature event.

10th in points after Friday, Nienhiser would grid the field from the fifth row for the feature event. After a good hot lap session, Nienhiser felt confident heading into the feature but the surface however looked like it may take rubber again.

When the race went green it was only a couple of laps before rubber began to go down and cars would get into single file formation. Getting into eighth, Nienhiser would take over seventh on a restart as he was mindful to keep his tires underneath him incase the end of the race became a battle of durability.

Holding down seventh, Nienhiser would track down fifth and sixth and would try to get out of the rubber to get around them but with nothing to lean on, he would think better of the situation and settle back into line where he would close his weekend out with a seventh place finish.

“I really have to thank my crew for all of their hard work,” Paul Nienhiser added. “We have been really fast all year, and hopefully I can get this thing up front and get my guys the finish they deserve. It was a good weekend for our team and we will see what we can do this weekend.”

Nienhiser would like to thank CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil, Mason Sound, Innovative Design, Bradshaw Custom Pumping, Wessler Bros. Agency, Bob Hawks Auto Body, Littleton Storm & Timber, Fierce Herbicide, Sunstoppers Window Tinting, Engler Machine and Tool, FK Indy, Rider Racing Engines, Kaeding Performance, and Steve Thomas Racing for their continued support.
