Nienhiser Shakes Tough Luck and Returns to Victory Lane

PETERSEN MEDIA: After a tumultuous couple of weeks that saw mechanical gremlins follow him from city to city, Paul Nienhiser looks to have finally ridded himself of the problems as he picked up a 305ci win on Friday night before a 17th place finish on Saturday night with the All Star Circuit of Champions.

“To say it was a fun weekend would be an understatement,” Paul Nienhiser said. “To drive for my good friends on Friday night and win was an awesome feeling and to finally shake our bad luck in my car and actually get to race and have some speed was also a relief.”

Making the trip to Jacksonville Speedway on Friday night to compete in the Caleb Wankel owned 305ci entry, Nienhiser would get off to a great start as he charged to the win in his heat race after lining up in the eighth starting position.

Having high points on this night, the Chapin, IL driver would find himself on the pole for the feature event and he would continue to flex his muscle and dominate the competition.

Jumping into the lead early, Nienhiser would never look back as he would simply check out and lap the field up to third place. Not only would he lap up to third, but he would win the race by a huge margin over second place and celebrate a hard earned victory with close friends.

Returning to the seat of his CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil/Mason Sound/Innovative Design machine on Saturday night to race with the All Star Circuit of Champions in Joliet, IL.

Timing in seventh overall and second in his group, Nienhiser would line up in the second row of his heat race. Making a big move when the green was displayed, Nienhiser would jump up to second as he chased after Gary Taylor.

Unable to get to Taylor, Nienhiser would settle for second and lock into the Dash where he would start fifth and finish fourth.

Lining up seventh on a very slick and abrasive surface, Nienhiser would make some moves as he would find himself inside the Top-Five at the race’s halfway point. Taking a liking to the bottom groove, Nienhiser would poke his nose under the Top-Three a few times but would prove to be tough on his tires.

Slipping back a little Niehiser would back to the cushion where he would admittedly made a couple of mistakes that caused him to bobble and lose some positions. On the last lap, Nienhiser would lose the handle and spin his machine out but would do a great job of keeping it fired and out of the wall as he ended up finishing 17th.

“It wasn’t the ideal finish, but since we aren’t points racing I was pushing as hard as I could to get a win,” Nienhiser said. “After the last few weeks I can’t say how much fun it was to be out there again. The tragedy our sport endured last week made me realize that I can’t take anything for granted and have to enjoy every second of this stuff. Really excited we have a little mojo back.”

Nienhiser would like to thank CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil, Mason Sound, Innovative Design, Bradshaw Custom Pumping, Wessler Bros. Agency, Bob Hawks Auto Body, Littleton Storm & Timber, Fierce Herbicide, Sunstoppers Window Tinting, Engler Machine and Tool, FK Indy, Rider Racing Engines, Kaeding Performance, and Steve Thomas Racing for their continued support.
