6th at 141 Speedway Highlights Busy Weekend for Paul Nienhiser and Ozzie Motorsports

PETERSEN MEDIA: Hooking up with Ozzie Motorsports and competing against the World of Outlaws and the IRA over the weekend, Paul Nienhiser would cap a very busy weekend for the team with a sixth-place finish during a wild feature on Sunday night at 141 Speedway.

“It was a really grueling weekend for our team with just Ozzie and Fran, me and Jake, and our two girlfriends in the pit area for four really tough nights of racing,” Paul Nienhiser said. “We had a lot of fun, and hopefully we can all do it again.”

Thursday night at Cedar Lake Speedway Nienhiser would qualify for Friday and Saturday’s event with the World of Outlaws, as well as take part in the Knockout race that was also on the docket.

Adapting to the new car quickly, Nienhiser would time in 10th fastest for Friday night’s program before timing in 13th fastest for Saturday’s finale.

Following time trials, Nienhiser would take part in the Knockout race where he rolled off the starting grid from the third position. Making it all the way to the race’s final round, Nienhiser would shred a left rear on the last lap and take away from what looked to be a positive finish.

Despite the late race bad luck, Nienhiser and company felt good heading into the next two nights with ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt.”

Taking advantage of that Friday night qualifying effort, Nienhiser would transfer directly into the feature event out of his heat race. Lining up 10th, the track would be extremely fast after some pre race prep, and it would make passing a bit difficult.

Lining up on the outside groove, the bottom would be the preferred line and after dropping a few spots Nienhiser would settle into the 14th spot. Hanging out, the Chapin, IL driver closed the night out with a 14th place finish.

Saturday night saw Nienhiser take the green flag for his heat race from the third row. Falling out of a transfer position, Nienhiser would be forced into the ‘B’ though he would find himself up on the front row.

Winning the semi, Nienhiser moved into the feature event, which was aired on CBS Sports Network on this night, but had his work cut out as he took the green from the 19th starting position.

Losing a lap early, Nienhiser would still show speed as he battled with some of the best in the business. Though he would race his way back up to 12th during green flag action, he would officially be scored 18th due to going down a lap early.

Heading to 141 Speedway on Sunday night with the IRA, Nienhiser and the Ozzie Motorsports team did some extra work going through the car after not being as strong as they had hoped at Cedar Lake on Saturday and Sunday.

The checkup seemed to work, as Nienhiser was able to time in sixth fastest in time trials despite the track slowing down and him going out nearly last.

From his second row starting position in his heat race, Nienhiser would flex his muscle early as he powered to the win and made his way into the Dash.

Winning Dash #2, Nienhiser would line up on the front row of the feature event alongside Ozzie Motorsports teammate, Jake Blackhurst.

With Blackhurst getting out to the early lead, Nienhiser would take a couple shots at the top spot but played it safe to ensure he didn’t wreck his teammate. As the leaders but got into traffic, the two-headed battle for the lead became a three headed monster as Bill Balog tracked the duo down.

Battling through traffic, and making a couple more bids for the lead, damage to Nienhiser’s right rear would cause a flat and force him to make a stop in the work area.

Able to restart from the tail end of the field, Nienhiser continued to show a ton of speed as he raced his way back to sixth, where he would finish, just narrowly missing out on a Top-5 despite making a trip to the work area with 13 laps left in the race.

“I had a great time running a couple of really cool tracks up in Wisconsin and hope I can get an opportunity to do some racing up there in the future,” Nienhiser added. “Big thanks to Ozzie and his team for the opportunity.”

Nienhiser would like to thank CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil, Mason Sound, Innovative Design, Bradshaw Custom Pumping, Wessler Bros. Agency, Bob Hawks Auto Body, Littleton Storm & Timber, Fierce Herbicide, Sunstoppers Window Tinting, Engler Machine and Tool, FK Indy, Rider Racing Engines, Kaeding Performance, Smith Titanium Products, Vortex Wings, Signature Signs and Design, and Team Simpson for their continued support.
