Paul Nienhiser Makes Late Race Move to Win at Jacksonville Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Friday night at Jacksonville Speedway, Paul Nienhiser made a late race move to overtake Thomas Meseraul and score his fourth win of the season before backing it up with a second-place finish against the Sprint Invaders on Saturday night.

“I knew we had a good car on Friday night, and I was just trying to bide my time,” Paul Nienhiser said. “TMEZ is a good friend, so if I was going to lose it, it would have been alright to lose it to him, but luckily we had a shot thanks to a late caution.”

Friday night at Jacksonville Speedway, Nienhiser would line the CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil/Mason Sound/Innovative Design backed No. 9x machine up in the second row of his heat race. Making a couple of swift moves, the Chapin, IL driver would work into the second spot, where he would finish, and find himself fourth in points.

The feature event would line up directly based on points putting Nienhiser in the second row.

Jumping into second from the onset of the feature, Nienhiser would try to keep pace with TMEZ who was very strong out front. Continuing to run in second, Nienhiser would hope to make his move in traffic, but Meseraul would have better luck in traffic than he would, and it would keep Nienhiser in second.

A couple of late restarts would see Nienhiser make a couple of bids for the lead, but TMEZ was able to fend him off until a restart with just two laps left in the race.

The race’s final restart saw Nienhiser keep pace with Meseraul and a big move would pay off of Nienhiser jumped into the lead and took off leading the final lap and a half to pick up his fourth win of the season.

Saturday night, Nienhiser climbed aboard Scott Bonar’s No. 50 machine as the team checked in at Lee County Speedway for action with the NRA Sprint Invaders.

Having a tough heat race draw, Nienhiser would line up seventh in his heat race. With a very strong Midland Performance machine underneath him, Nienhiser was able to carve his way through the field and net a second-place finish.

Qualifying for the Dash, Nienhiser would take full advantage of the front row starting position as he would pick up the win by over a straightway and draw the inversion pill for the feature.

As luck would have it, Nienhiser would draw the six, putting him sixth on the starting grid for the feature event.

Still with a strong car underneath him, Nienhiser quickly worked his way into third, and then made numerous passes on Chris Martin for second, only to see caution flags negate his efforts.

Once in second for good, Nienhiser had his work cut out for himself as the race leader has build up a sizeable lead. Able to cut into the deficit in traffic, Nienhiser would run out of time, though still capped a strong weekend off with a second-place finish.

“All in all, it was a really good weekend in both cars,” Nienhiser said. “Scott and I have really come accustomed to second place finishes, but I would love nothing more than to get a win for him this weekend at the ‘Fall Haul’.”

Nienhiser would like to thank CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil, Mason Sound, Innovative Design, Bradshaw Custom Pumping, Wessler Bros. Agency, Bob Hawks Auto Body, Littleton Storm & Timber, Fierce Herbicide, Sunstoppers Window Tinting, Engler Machine and Tool, FK Indy, Rider Racing Engines, Kaeding Performance, Smith Titanium Products, Vortex Wings, Signature Signs and Design, and Team Simpson for their continued support.

2020 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-30, Wins-4, Top 5’s-10, Top 10’s-16

ON TAP: Nienhiser will return to the seat of Scott Bonar’s No. 50 car at 34 Raceway this weekend for the ‘Fall Haul’.
