Nienhiser Heats Up as Season Winds Down

PETERSEN MEDIA: After taking a couple weeks off from racing, Chapin, IL driver Paul Nienhiser is heating up as the season draws to a close. Picking up a fourth-place finish two weeks ago with Scott Bonar, Nienhiser was back in victory lane on Friday night at his home track, Jacksonville Speedway, and eyes a repeat victory tomorrow night.
“After taking some time off it feels great to get this No. 9x car back in victory lane at Jacksonville Speedway where it belongs,” Paul Nienhiser said. “We haven’t ran the family car a ton in 2021, but when we have it has been a struggle and on Friday night we hit on some things and we are excited to try again this coming Friday.”
Nienhiser showed no signs of rust at his home track on Friday night as he would line the CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil/Mason Sound/Innovative Design backed machine up in the second row of his heat race.
Able to work on the two distinctive lines that were offered up early in the night, Nienhiser would get up into second, where he would finish, and put himself in a good spot for the upcoming feature event.
Sitting second in race points, Nienhiser would roll off the starting grid from the front row for a feature event that would have a tough time getting underway. With two starts being negated for wrecks, Nienhiser would get damage to his left rear on the second failed attempt.
With his left rear going down, Nienhiser opted to keep his track position and roll the dice on the damaged tire. When the green flag was displayed, Nienhiser would jump out to the early lead as he began pounding the boards at the racy ¼ mile speedway.
Amidst a dominant performance, traffic would get Nienhiser some issues. Attempting to make a move in traffic, Nienhiser would back his pass attempt down, causing him to lose a ton of momentum, and relinquish the lead to Jake Neuman.
Going from hunted to hunter, Nienhiser would return the favor on Neuman in traffic as he took the lead back late in the race and cruised on to his fifth win of the season.
“It was a fun night, and I was really happy with how things felt,” Nienhiser said. “We don’t have a ton of races left this year, but I am hoping we can end the season on a really strong note.”
Nienhiser would like to thank CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil, Mason Sound, Innovative Design, Bradshaw Custom Pumping, Wessler Bros. Agency, Bob Hawks Auto Body, Fierce Herbicide, Sunstoppers Window Tinting, Engler Machine and Tool, FK Indy, Rider Racing Engines, Kaeding Performance, Smith Titanium Products, Vortex Wings, Signature Signs and Design, and Team Simpson for their continued support.
2021 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-41, Wins-5, Top 5’s-9, Top 10’s-15
ON TAP: Nienhiser will be back in his car on Friday night at Jacksonville Speedway, and will then return to Scott Bonar’s No. 50 mount on Saturday night during the Fall Haul with the Sprint Invaders, and on Sunday night at East Moline Raceway.
